One of my favorite things to do is to cozy up under a warm blanket, with a cup of coffee (loaded with French Vanilla creamer), and a good book. I started my latest read, The Aviator's Wife by Melanie Benjamin, last night while snuggled in bed, sans the coffee. As I began to open the book, I realized that I was starting my FOURTH book of 2018 (and it was only the 22nd of January). This thought made me recognize something - I read a lot of books! I don't mean to sound like a braggart, and some people may say, "Wow, ONLY four in a month!". Yet, to me, this fact blew my mind! I somehow get so mesmerized by the stories I am reading that I really don't think to keep track whether I have read one or one thousand.
As an avid reader, and literature admirer, I truly love to discuss the books that cross my path, or books that others are reading. My mother, who reads books one after the other, is usually my discussion group when it comes to our latest literary finds. We text each other when we start or finish a book. We call each other when we get excited about an unexpected plot twist. We gossip about the characters as if they are our next door neighbors. Given the joy and excitement I feel when reading and talking about books, last night, I began to think, "How can I talk about the books I read with a wider audience? How can I find others, with a passion for reading, and hear what they have to say?". My answer, the best thing I could think of - a blog!
I hope my perspective on the books I read and review is appealing to all who visit this website, but most of all I hope that this blog inspires others to branch out and read new books they never thought of reading, or possibly read one that has been on their list for a while but just haven't gotten to yet. If anything, I hope to encourage people to become so entranced in the stories within the pages of any book, that they forget how many books they have read in a month, year, or lifetime.
